The 8 E-Apostille States
Montana (First in the US)
Montana was the first US state to implement both e-apostille and e-register. Fee: $10. They hosted the 2024 national e-APP symposium with 200+ attendees.
Connecticut
Pilot launched September 2023. Mandatory online system since September 2025 β paper forms no longer accepted. Fee: $40.
Kentucky
Full e-apostille since May 2024. Submit PDF online, receive digitally signed PDF via email. Fee: $5. Not available for vital records.
Washington
Launched February 2024. Fee: $15 standard, +$50 expedited, +$150 same-day in-person.
Minnesota
Confirmed issuing e-apostilles in 2024. E-register verifies apostilles issued May 2018 or later. Fee: $5.
Maryland
Early adopter with integrated electronic systems. Walk-in service available until 1 PM daily. Fee: $5.
Utah
Office of the Lieutenant Governor handles apostilles (not Secretary of State). Fee: $20 normal, $55 expedited.
Rhode Island
Pilot program for electronic apostilles on digital corporate documents. Fee: $5.75.
